How it all started!

Journey to ironically being a health student although I skip my breakfast almost everyday :⁠X

Well, with the emergence of mental health and decapitalization of the stigma surrounding such an abstract concept like mental health, made me spur some interest in the field of psychology.

As a child, like any other trend follower, I used to be obsessed with the only free streaming platform that I knew of at the time for being young, dumb and broke was well… you guessed it-  YouTube. Well you know the drill when it comes to browsing videos on YouTube, one goes from watching something as funny as memes, to watching music videos, getting rickrolled, to watching some history or origin of musicians out of curiosity on how to be as famous as they could possibly be  and so on and so forth; which would then lead from a dimension of  fun to something as serious as documentaries. The thing about these documentaries is that they are really boring. But what fascinated me is the story they tell. But what also fascinated me about this was the unique perspectives and approach people have with respect to their life and lifestyle. An amalgamation of culture, social setting, biology, genetics, values, beliefs and just unique experiences people share and have for themselves, is a beautiful site to witness. Ranging emotions of happiness, sadness, anger, fear, love, lust, perseverance and so on, all  to make up a person unique with how each potion is of a different ratio that makes one another different. Makes you wonder how you would have approached such situations or how one feels or thinks is absolutely contradicactory to what you may feel or think.

Well, to be fair and not beating around the bush, I hate studying. I do however love knowing new things that challenge my curiosity. Well long story short for a person who hates studying, I do love genetics, astronomy, psychology and philosophy. But mostly anything to do with genetics and functioning of the brain and how different fields in psychology have an explanation to back up  science and vice-versa. Viola, guess what field has and is a combination of biology, psychology, social, different views and perspectives of people? 

So that is how I became a student of Msc. Psychology "HEALTH AND WELLBEING". And Heyyyyy, My name is Akhila and this is my story y'all ;)
